President Donald Trump threw down the gauntlet Wednesday morning by telling Russia to prepare for a US missile strike on Syria in response to a suspected chemical weapons attack blamed on the Syrian government.   • A Russian diplomat had previously threatened to shoot down US missiles, and the platforms firing them, if the US attacked Syria.
  • But the Kremlin has urged caution, trying to talk the US down from a strike on Syria.

"Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and 'smart!'" Trump tweeted. "You shouldn't be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!"
